The Singergie family has officially arrived in the Borders — welcoming singers of all backgrounds, all abilities, and all levels of confidence into a brand-new community choir built on joy, warmth, and togetherness. Test!
We’re absolutely delighted to announce that the Singergie Borders Choir is officially open. After months of planning, scouting venues, and speaking with local music-lovers, we’re finally ready to welcome singers of every skill level — from complete beginners to seasoned vocalists.
This choir is all about connection. Whether you’re looking to discover singing for the first time, return after a long break, or simply meet new people in a friendly atmosphere, we’ve crafted this group with accessibility and community at its heart.
It doesn’t matter if you’ve never sung outside your shower — everyone is welcome. Our Borders choir follows the same Singergie ethos as all our groups: no auditions, no pressure, and no perfectionism. Just joyful musical moments shared with kind people.
You’ll learn vocal basics, enjoy fun warm-ups, and work through songs in a relaxed, supportive way. We’ve designed the sessions so you can ease in at your own pace, with plenty of encouragement along the way.
If you can speak, you can sing — and Singergie is here to prove it.
We’ll be exploring an exciting mix of styles throughout the season. Expect modern pop harmonies, folk favourites, a few classic anthems, and the occasional unexpected gem to keep things interesting.
Our musical team carefully curates each setlist to keep rehearsals engaging, uplifting, and accessible, even for those who can’t read sheet music. Backing tracks and lyric sheets will, as always, be available in the members’ area.

We're hosting a quiz night for music lovers at Dalmahoy Hotel next week. 10 rounds of music and music related questions promises to be a brain strain and a fun time for all. Friends and family including children are welcome! Teams can be formed in advance, or put together at the event. Wh

Singing is only half the story. The real magic of Singergie lies in the friendships, the laughs, and the shared moments that happen between the notes. We’ve seen choirs transform into lively little communities everywhere we’ve launched — and we can’t wait to see that happen here too.
The Borders group will have its own members’ hub where you can access resources, announcements, rehearsal recordings, and more. Staff will also be on hand to support accessibility needs, logistics, and general questions.
The Singergie Borders Choir is more than a new group — it’s an invitation. An invitation to sing, to belong, to try something new, and to be part of a warm, creative community. Whether you’re from Galashiels, Selkirk, Melrose, Peebles, or anywhere in between, we’d love to have you with us.
Come along, lift your voice, and see what we can create together.
In an age of loneliness, digital overload, and disappearing third spaces, community choirs quietly offer something profoundly human — belonging. Across the UK, community spaces are shrinking. Pubs close, high streets empty, social clubs fade, and people increasingly find themselves isolated despite living busier lives than ever. Yet there’s one place where connection still flourishes with remarkable ease: the community choir. W
