A Night to Remember: Singergie’s Recent Performance Shines

Our most recent concert was a wonderful blend of music, storytelling, and community spirit — a night that reminded us why we sing together.

Last weekend, the Singergie community gathered for one of our most uplifting performances to date. Held in a packed local hall with friends, family, and plenty of first-time attendees, the evening celebrated everything our choirs stand for: joy, inclusion, and the simple magic of singing together.

This recap highlights the standout moments, from the opening notes to the final applause.

The concert began with a bright, confident rendition of Here Comes the Sun, instantly setting a warm tone for the night. Even before the first chorus finished, the audience were swaying along — a promising sign of the energy to come.

Our singers handled the layered harmonies beautifully, showing just how much they’ve grown over the term. For several new members, it was their first time performing with a choir, and they rose to the occasion with real courage.

Seeing our newcomers step into the spotlight was one of the proudest moments of the evening.

One of the strengths of this performance was its musical range. From gentle folk melodies to upbeat pop favourites, our singers brought each piece to life with genuine enthusiasm.

Highlights included: - A tender, reflective version of Caledonia that earned a long, heartfelt applause - A lively gospel-inspired arrangement of Lean On Me that had the whole room clapping along - A confident performance of This Is Me, delivered with power and pride by the full choir

These shifts in mood created a lovely ebb and flow — moments of quiet emotion followed by bursts of joyful energy.

The choir’s favourite moment came toward the end of the night with our final number: You Will Be Found. The song’s message of connection and support felt especially meaningful, and the room fell silent as the harmonies swelled.

Many audience members later said it was the song that moved them most. A few even admitted to shedding a sneaky tear — and honestly, who could blame them?

The performance was a resounding success — not because every note was perfect, but because the room was full of heart. Our singers gave it their all, the audience embraced every moment, and the atmosphere stayed warm and generous throughout.

Events like this remind us why Singergie exists: to bring people together through music, community, and shared experience. We’re already looking forward to the next one.

Why Community Choirs Matter More Than Ever

In an age of loneliness, digital overload, and disappearing third spaces, community choirs quietly offer something profoundly human — belonging. Across the UK, community spaces are shrinking. Pubs close, high streets empty, social clubs fade, and people increasingly find themselves isolated despite living busier lives than ever. Yet there’s one place where connection still flourishes with remarkable ease: the community choir. W
